Carmen Reid is a visual artist of Tasmanian origin currently based in Melbourne. Her practice is grounded in sculptural installation and informed by production design methodologies. Carmen aims to present works that appeal to the senses, applying a poetic sensibility to surfaces, objects and spaces to generate works concerned with materiality and the transformation of the commonplace. Persistent themes are drawn from architecture, cinema and neurological functions and motivated by the expression of movement, tactility, narrative structures and tensions between physical states and mental concepts.
